Definition
The angle of inclination of the main strokes of italic or oblique letterforms, measured in degrees from the vertical. Most text italics have a slope of roughly 2° to 12°. Slope is distinct from axis: a letter can have an oblique axis with no slope, or a vertical axis with considerable slope.
